
The Flag of the Khanty-Mansiysk City was approved by Duma decision # 176 of December 27, 2002, registered in the State Heraldic Council under the Office of the President of the Russian Federation and entered into the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation under number 988.
The flag of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk is a rectangular with heights-to-width ratio of 2:3. It is divided horizontally into three equal stripes (the upper stripe is blue; the central stripe is yellow; the lower stripe is green). The upper central part of the green stripe has an irregular form standing for a fir tree between two wedge-shaped figures (symbolizing skin tens of aboriginal population) with a white bird-shape element (white crane with the outspread wings) in the center of the stripe. The blue stripe has three white snowflakes on it just above the white bird. The city flag has been developed basing on the symbols of the city emblem.

The Emblem of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk was approved by Duma decision # 135 of October 25, 2002, registered in the State Heraldic Council under the Office of the President of the Russian Federation and entered into the State Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation under number 708.
The emblem of the municipal entity - the city of Khanty-Mansiysk (further the emblem of the city) is an identifying sign, designed and used in accordance with the rules of heraldry. It serves as a symbol of the regional self-government and city status.
The emblem has been designed and developed by Yaroslav I. Levko.
The central part of the emblem is composed of four symbols placed on the bright-blue (azure) background. The background symbolizes the unity of water and the sky.
The golden hemisphere symbolizes the sun and the hills washed by the Irtysh and Ob waters.
Three snowflakes are placed on the blue background above the hemisphere symbolizing a long snowy winter and belonging to northern towns.
Three fur-trees of emerald color are depicted on the golden hemisphere two of which (the side ones) stand for skin tents. The golden color symbolizes affluence, justice and generosity. The emerald color symbolizes taiga surrounding the city.
A symbolical white bird (a white crane, sterkh) with extended wings as though covering the whole sphere is depicted against the emerald-green background of the bottom part of the emblem. The white bird symbolizes purity and unique geographical position of the city.
